Skill Enhancement Course in Inbound/Outbound Tour Operations


In December 2011,Tata Institute of Social Sciences set up the School of Vocational Education (SVE) to provide immediate and definite interventions to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and marginalized youth, especially who are excluded by the formal school education system, through appropriate vocational training and Skill Enhancement programmes. It has been set up with a vision of creating an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labour for blue collar streams of work and create sustainable sources of income. This project has been initiated under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) proposed by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Key Features:

1.Introduction and Course Objectives:

In any industry, marketing is the key factor. Identifying, understanding and presenting interesting destinations and tour packages. Tour operations are one of the fastest growing sectors in this industry – for inbound traffic as well as outbound. The core requirements are only intellectual capital, creative ideas, cost effective promotions and an understanding of the various segments of the industry. This course can be taken by anyone interested in a career in the Travel and Tourism industry.

The short duration course in Inbound-Outbound Operations will enable a person to learn and understand the various aspects of Tour Operations - handling domestic tourists who travel abroad or those international and domestic tourists who travel across different locations in India. This basic course is a good value addition to any graduate student and covers the essential requirements of understanding the job profile, prior to taking employment. This course provides one an opportunity to face interviews successfully .Every major industry player seeks for people who have some understanding and skills related to the industry.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

Preference to m Graduates and above with an aptitude for meeting people and ready to be active in the field of Travel & Tourism. Must have the curiosity and enthusiasm to learn about the geography of the country and the attractive tourist destinations of the world and should be innovative. Plus two with previous education and certification in the Travel & Tourism subjects can take up this course. This is also ideal for many who are working in the industry, but have no formal certification.

Duration of Course: 45 days (240 hours)

Job Opportunities will be available with - Tour operators, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Travel Agency, Destination Marketing Departments (Government Sector), Hotel Industry, Guiding (Eco-tours), Travel consultant, Hotel industry.
