Skill Enhancement Course in Travel & Tourism Sales


In December 2011,Tata Institute of Social Sciences set up the School of Vocational Education (SVE) to provide immediate and definite interventions to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and marginalized youth, especially who are excluded by the formal school education system, through appropriate vocational training and Skill Enhancement programmes. It has been set up with a vision of creating an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labour for blue collar streams of work and create sustainable sources of income. This project has been initiated under the aegis of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) proposed by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Key Features:

1.Introduction and Course Objectives:

In any industry, sales and marketing is the key factor that enables a business to grow. Identifying, packaging, presenting and promoting interesting destinations and tours become the key to successful tour operations. This course in Travel and Tourism Sales will enable a person to understand the various aspects of promoting and selling the various products in the Tourism and Travel Industry- selling local, Indian and international Destinations, Ticketing, Accommodation and so on . This course is good value addition to any graduate student and an opportunity to enter this field as every major industry player looks for people with such skills.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

Plus two and above with an aptitude and interest in the industry and eager to learn the skills required in performing better on the job. A prior certification in a related field is an advantage. This course is good value addition to any student who is undergoing their graduate studies or has completed the same. Housewives keen on part time careers or working from home. This is also ideal for many who are working in the industry, but have no formal certification.

3. Employability/Skill enhancement:

Job opportunities will be available with Tour operators, Travel Agency, Own Business, Airport ground handling, Hotel industry, Travel Consultant.

Duration of Course: 45 days (240 hours)

  • To know about consumer behaviour, improve customer service and positioning of Service Products
  • Understand the various options in online and offline sales
